FitBit's Best

I started wearing my FitBit in January 7, 2017. After 15 months I decided to check my stats and give myself a"pat-on-the-back" for some of my best walking days.

NUMBER OF STEPS              DATE                                   PLACE
    23,871                                  June 3, 2017                       Ottawa, Ontario
22,195                                  March 30, 2018                  New York City, NY
20,658                                  March 23, 2018                  The Beaches and Toronto, Ontario
19,306                                   March 31, 2018                  New York City, NY
18,272                                   December 21, 2017            Allan Gardens, Kensington Market
16,586                                   April 12, 2017                    Marseilles and Aix de Provence, France
   16,521                                   April 8, 2017                      Rome, Italy
   16,386                                   September 3, 2017             Quebec City
   16,321                                   July 15, 2017                      Kingston, Ontario
   15,468                                   April 16, 2017                    Florence, Italy

23,871 steps accomplished in Ottawa. What made this possible is being in a downtown hotel where everything was walking distance. Add to this the desire to find graffiti and cover the city core a few weeks before Canada celebrated its 150th year.

No. 6 happened in Marseilles and Aix-de-Provence, France. One walking tour taken during our first cruise. Ahhh...the memories and 16,586 steps.

From the Plains of Abraham to the Old Quebec city plus the walking food tour - no wonder I made 16,386 steps here.

Just because I live in Toronto does not mean I cannot make a lot of steps. One December day I tackled the Allan Garden, Toronto Music Garden and then joined Kensington market'sWinter Solstice parade. I made those 18,272 steps because a TTC street car was out of service making me walk from King Street to College.

Am No Cook

Been spending a lot of time in the kitchen lately on my "quest" for healthy eating. Here are some I came up with. Bear in mind though, I am no cook and I rarely follow recipes.

My version of the Skinny Alfredo but I used whatever pasta I had. Pasta with shredded chicken breast mushroom and spinach - no heavy cream, just milk, chicken broth, cheese.

Quinoa with salted egg and tomato. Yummy breakfast.

Spinach, mushroom, turkey breast and bell pepper fritattas.

Stir-fried left over chicken (shredded) with broccoli, zucchini, bell peppers.

Baked sweet potato.

FITBIT Update

Ever since I got my FitBit, I have been trying to reach my
personal goal of 8,000 steps a day.
And now for record and tracking purposes here are my STATS!!

JANUARY 29 - FEBRUARY 25    = Average of  7,471 steps a day
FEBRUARY 26 - MARCH 25       =  Average of  8,043 steps a day
MARCH 26 - APRIL 22                =  Average of  8,552 steps a day*
APRIL 23 - MAY 20                      = Average of  7,088 steps a day

The STATS may be looking like an UP and DOWN adventure,
but I will pat myself on the back for effort.
New shoes or old, always take a hike!!

Colonel Danforth Park

Trailing and strolling again while the rain has not started. This time we went to the familiar and nearby Colonel Danforth Park.

Enjoying the wild flowers and the serenity of the place.

A few bikers and more wild flowers.

Green ferns all around made the walk very refreshing.
And then a few left over trilliums.

Charles Sauriol Conservation Area

Discovered another trail recently. The Charles Sauriol Conservation Reserve which can be accessed through Lawrence Avenue East near the DVP. We have been passing this area for numerous times and only finally got to check it out.

And then so happy to finally be near this mural which
I have only seen from the DVP !

We walked all the way to the train track support and was reminded of my engineering days.

The trail is an easy walk and looks family friendly. A must-explore for Torontonians.

Nordheimer Ravine

This was supposedly a staircase stroll as the area was known to have several staircases. But we took a different route and found other things instead.

The gravel trail with lots of greenery around.
Difficult to believe we were in the heart of Toronto West.

Then at at certain point, under the Spadina Road viaduct we found these.

There was a staircase that could have led to the Casa Loma,
but we walked further towards Roycroft Park.

Roycroft Park.

We actually walked farther enjoying the huge and beautiful mansions of Poplar Plains and Boulton Drive. Sorry, no photos to post as we did not dare take any. But one has got to hike up these streets to see them.

Anyway, it was good hike hitting 9,550 in my FitBit.

Scarborough Civic Centre - One Warm Evening

Taking advantage of a warm evening and left over energy after hitting the gym. Took a stroll at the nearby Borough Drive (aka Scarborough Civic Centre). This place around a year ago was teeming with Pokemon Go addicts then. Now, only a few people are here - some taking photos, others with their toddlers and a few walking their dogs.

This two however is giving the scenery its best compliment.
To enjoy it.
And the best complement to my stolen shot.

Don River Valley Park (Brickworks)

Sunday afternoon of May 7 brought us to the Don River Valley Park. Formerly a quarry for the brick manufacturing plant serving Toronto buildings, this place is now converted into an urban park.

Kingston Road

After the walk through the ravine and through the residential streets we still ended up at Kingston Road. Time to hit the street.

Tempting shops.

Capped the walk with some yummy treats and coffee at the Beaches Bakeshop & Cafe.

One of those Toronto discoveries we will surely go back.
