The Hamlet of Belfountain

Belfountain, Ontario
October 22, 2017

Belfountain is a picturesque hamlet (small human settlement) on the Forks of the Credit Road. The road towards the place is scenic and fun to drive. We visited this place on a nice autumn day and we were surprised by the number of people in such a small place.

Despite the lack of space except by the narrow road. Harleys, fancy cars, baby strollers, people and pets are happy with the tiny space.

The charm of Belfountain is its smallness. If ever you get to pass by or visit the place - make sure to try from any of the 3 ice cream shops and/or coffee shops. There is  a General store that sells sweets and coffee too aside from souvenirs and an Inn that serves meals.

Fooling around.

Just Driving Around

Cambridge, Paris, Stoney Creek, Niagara-on-the-Lake
October 21, 2017

Had to drop the son in Kitchener and pick him up a few hours later. So, what do 2 wanderers do?  Drive around neighboring places of course!

A shoe tree at Paris, Ontario.

Enjoying the shops at the Niagara-On-The-Lake.

On this trip we had really delicious Thai food at Banana Leaf Restaurant in Stoney Creek. No photo to post but something definitely worth going back for.

Uxbridge - 3

Uxbridge, Ontario
October 15, 2017

More photos taken on our last visit to Uxbridge.

Portion of the Main Street.

Aside from street art - I also enjoy noting store business signs with the style and fonts they use.

Inside Savon Du Bois where we had tea with zucchini walnut muffin.

Another view of the Main street.

Train station where several trips are scheduled depending on season.

Merrickville Road Trip - Notes

Merrickville, Ontario
October 8-10, 2017

Highways taken : 401, 35 and 117
At the Merrickville area took hiways 28, 6, 15
Playlist that accompanied us : Apo Hiking Society, Boyfriends, Marc Anthony, Carly Simon

Places we passed by :
The Marmora Sculpture Garden. Closed.
Norwood, Perth and Smith Falls. Driver did not make any stop. It was a cloudy and grey day which was not helping at all to take fall colors photos.

Food Places We Tried :
Cha Tea upon arrival, after check-in.
Kochi Sushi in Brockville. All you can eat sushi, but not that great.
Baldachin Inn (take out steak) - the hubby swears it will be the standard of his steak now.
Coffee Bean - open on thanksgiving day. Coffee and muffin to while away the time.
Mainstreet Family Restaurant - breakfast on last day. Ordered Hungry Man and Western omelet.

Movies we watched (at the B&B) :
Barefoot in the Park (Robert Redford, Jane Fonda, 1967)
Documentary on the Royal Family
Security (Antonio Banderas, 2017)

It was a rainy trip but managed to take a couple of barn photos to start my Barn Photo Project.

To keep in mind next time - Thanksgiving weekend is not the best time to visit Ontario places. Most restaurants and attractions are closed (Brockville). Some shops in Merrickville however were open in the afternoon.

Gananogue - Store Signs

Oh the pretty things you see when you look up!

Interesting store signs found in Gananoque.
Actually, it is all about the font.

Art Installations : Four Seasons

I have long wanted to take photos of these art installations near the Fairview Mall and Don Mills subway station. So one humid, super warm yet rainy afternoon I scheduled this short adventure on my own.

Art Installations by Douglas Coupland. Title : Four Seasons

Then 2 condominium signs that were equally colorful.
Inspired by Crayola.

Trivia : Not only did I get lost (I was looking for murals under the bridge too), I ended up having dinner in IKEA on this rainy afternoon.  FitBit steps on this day was 13,581. Not bad at all.

Massachusetts, USA - Shelburne Falls 2

Shelburne Falls was a small village and we did not spend a lot of time here but still I managed to enjoy the place and took photos of a lot of things I found interesting.
Like store signs.

Massachusetts, USA - Bridge of Flowers

Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts is known for "the bridge of flowers". What used to be a bridge to transfer trolley tracks in 1908 was transformed into a garden bridge in 1929 when the bridge no longer became useful. The idea is unique and this arc-type bridge is a worthwhile side trip when in Massachusetts.
