"Smoking woman. Burned man".
Tagline for that TV show I am becoming a fan of, Burn Notice.
The title refers to the burn notices issued by intelligence agencies to discredit or announce the dismissal of agents or sources who are considered to have become unreliable. When a spy is burned, they are wiped off the "grid."
With no work history, no money, basically no identity - main character Michael Westen (Jeff Donovan) is stuck in Miami with his "explosive loving" ex-girlfriend, Fiona (Gabrielle Anwar) and of all people -- his mom.
Action, McGyverish gadgetry, a bit of humor and romance, it is light watching. Michael Westen is no Jack Bauer but I kind of root for him and get excited for his next adventure. I don't find Donovan cute, but he fits the role so well. Just a very regular looking guy who loves yogurt.
It is Fiona I love in this series. She is my dream me. I like to be her in my next life. Sexy, appealing, slim and knows her guns. I love her hip bags (I have to get one!).
D thinks it is actually the relationship of Michael and his mom that draws me to the series. Mom and Michael have some unfinished business and mom is just so happy (or not) that her boy came back to Miami. Think of mom looking over shoulder of burned intelligence agent.
Season 3 will start in June and Season 2 finale did a series high of 6.1 million average viewers. This series is getting noticed, mhan!
Don't ask me how I get to watch it, Burn Notice is on USA Network. Check it out if you can.
Tried watching it once, but I got bored. Will give it another try. The girl? Didn't she appear in Scent of A Woman?
ReplyDeleteAu,
ReplyDeleteGive it a try. It's almost a GP kind of show - even kids can watch it! No bloody gore like CSI (which I religiously watched before), no tortures like 24 (still my favorite). The storylines are so easy to follow - you can even do something else while watching. Comparable to "Chuck" -- when you want something light to your TV watching menu.
