In these unsettled times 2 things are on my mind.
1) Lunch was free yesterday courtesy of my Union. Yes, I belong to Canada's working class and I am a union member. Is this the last supper before execution? My Union is in the middle of contract negotiations as our present CBA ends this year. With the free pizza came the information session on how the negotiations are going, updates, and what to expect in the weeks to come. I heard what I wanted to hear and let other information I don't want to hear out through my left ear. That is the escapist in me. This is supposed to be happy days, thus I will listen to gloomy stories only after the holidays.
2) I shifted my mind somewhere. I should have known better than read the front page of the Toronto Star. "Canadian Idol canceled for 2009", it says. I don't watch the show, but Canadian Idol is the second most-watched Canadian-originated show in the entire country. CTV, the show's carrier network cites economic climate as the reason for the hiatus.
These are bad signs of the times, yet life goes on. What's on your mind right now?
I'm hoping that I'd still have a job to go back to once my mat leave is done :-( so far, things doesn't look too bad in my department at work but we'll never know what could happen in the next 6 months i have left :-S
ReplyDeleteits not doomsday yet... i agree with you, life must go on.
ReplyDeletefor all the time i have been working, my status is always like walking on a tightrope. the fear of falling is always there. yet, i survived. these bad signs of times will get by but i know we'll hold on and stand unscathed.
