Inukshuks

Two people messaged me asking about my stone profile.

These "monuments" or art forms made of unworked stones are used by the Inuit (Canadian natives) for communication and survival. They are called "inukshuks", the traditional meaning of which is "Someone was here" or "You are on the right path."  The one on my profile is my own version.

Drive along Ontario's Highway 400/69 north of Penetanguishene and you will surely be intrigued by these man-like rock formations on top of boulders and huge rocks.  The few I took snapshots of are in the composite photo above.  There must have been thousands along the stretch  and each one is always unique. Alluring, mystical inukshuks.
