Some movies do not create quite a stir - yet they can cause a lengthy discussion between the 3 of us. Here are two of them :
Law Abiding Citizen - Battle of the wits between Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler) a brilliant man who orchestrates a series of high-profile murders and Assistant DA Nick Rice (Jamie Foxx) the man who thinks he can stop him.
The presentation of the story in the movie was not so impressive - I even found it a bit too fiction - too much of a novel than a movie. The catch however were in the question(s) we asked ourselves at the end of the movie. Who won? Did Shelton win because he got what he wanted? Did Rice win because he ended Shelton's reign of terror? Is Rice guilty of assisting a murder after deliberately placing the bomb in Shelton's prison cell? Is Shelton still the loser after everything he has done?
Gone, Baby Gone - a small movie that garnered a lot of awards and nominations in several film critics circle. The kind of movie that you watch and let go. However, at the very end it grips you with questions. How will you know what is right for someone (an abducted child in this movie). Who can tell what is the right thing to do? Then no matter what side you are on - you get the feeling the other choice was the better one.
Catch them on DVDs - guaranteed to trigger your mind.
