Litratong Pinoy - Regalo

Para sa akin, isa sa mga pinakamagandang regalo ay ang regalo ng pagka kaibigan.

I became friends with 2 of my closest friends since 1983. We were fresh from college then, and were starting careers in a place far from our homes. We didn't plan to become life long friends - it just happened slowly.

Each of us became witnesses to relationships which resulted into weddings; career moves, child births, tragedies, building first homes, business ventures, migration, family crisis, and so much more. Friendship that has spanned the distance from Iligan City, Philippines to Riverview, Michigan to Scarborough and Ajax in Ontario, Canada. Friends like gold.

Migrating to Toronto, Canada also brought our family new found friends. People we now consider family. Friends with whom we share similar dreams, went through the same migrant's experience, and helped ease away homesickness and loneliness. Friends like silver.

Finally, there are the friends whose connection we still preserve despite the distance. Facebook, e-mails, occassional phone calls, and Christmas cards keep these friendships alive. Unseen but not forgotten. Silver and gold.
