Tim Horton’s Self-Order Kiosk

Want your morning java in a hurry? Tim Horton has a new “self-order kiosk” at the Bloor St. West and Dufferin St. location. Actually, it is the first one in the downtown area and the second in Canada (the first is at the Tim Horton’s headquarters in Oakville).

So what is a self-order kiosk? First, it is not to be confused with a drive through - in a kiosk you line up using your 2 feet. Secondly, you need a Tim Card or your Mastercard to order. Next, you punch it your order on the screen (pressing the cream and sugar buttons twice if you want a double-double). Regular items like bagels and doughnuts are also available on screen. Lastly, you line up again to pick up your order.

This new kiosk thing is still a test run with the aim of a faster, more efficient ordering system. If this works, soon we will have a choice to line up the traditional way and catch up on the latest gossip with a friend, or lessen human contact and use the self order kiosk.

The things they can think of in the name of coffee.
