Kitchen Tips

Contrary to what others think, I do my fair share of cooking too. Only that I do them in my own way. Basically, it boils down to planning. Here's a sample :

  • Tenderize beef short ribs good for 2 servings.
  • Once tender, I cook calderetta right away with one half.
  • Freeze the other half to make beef soup for another meal.

  • Cook chicken drumsticks and wingettes with some spices. Quantity good for 2 1/2 servings.
  • Once cooked, separate a few pieces of drumsticks.
  • Cut/shred few pieces drumsticks and they are ready for pansit soup.
  • Divide remaining chicken parts into 2
  • Cook 1 serving into chicken curry.
  • The other half I freeze to make afritada next time.

  • Cook until tender ground beef.
  • One part can be made into torta, or mixed with cubed vegetables.
  • Other part can be mixed with pasta sauce and ready for any pasta dinner.

Finally, I store all prepared food in containers and mark them. Most of the time, we always have cooked or half cooked meat in the fridge ready for just a few more minutes of cooking.

Yes, it takes time and is exhausting. However, the 4-5 hours I spend in the kitchen on a Saturday pays off for lesser worries the rest of the week.

Try and see if it works for you.
