Barbie is 50!

Do you know that Barbie turned 50 recently? March 9 to be exact. This piece of news would never have caught my attention until I read Toronto Star's feature of girls owning Barbies. How they enjoyed their Barbies --- differently.Good thing I never owned a Barbie. For one, we could not afford it. Secondly, I don't remember ever wishing for one.

Did you (or still) own a Barbie? Did you ever (or still) wish for a Barbie?

Read the Toronto Star feature by clicking here and be surprised.

  1. I LOVED Barbies! I had a few dolls (even paper dolls)! When I joined Little Ms. NSC, I told the interviewer during the last Q&A portion that if I win, I'd use the money to buy more BARBIES! No wonder I lost :-S

Surprisingly, Kyla doesn't like them. We've re-gifted all Barbie(s) and dolls she'd received as presents.

*I've always wanted a Ken, too but I never got one. Oh wellz, they got divorced anyway. LoL.

  2. Never had a Barbie. As a child, I don't think I was aware that it existed. But my daughter had several. Growing up in America, it's a given that little girls play with Barbie dolls. Growing up in the Phil, we played with cheap dolls.

  3. that barbie doll on the pic is uber cute! I did have a couple of barbies but I get bored with them easily. Wow, never realized that Barbie has been playing with kids for that long.

  7. I remebered Gem was over a year old and was given a plastic red doll by her yaya at Christmas. It was the one that makes a sound when you press any part of the body and she loved it more than anything else and never looked at any other gift.
