I was off from work for 2 days last week. I put work on hold to work on life.
Day 1
A friend had surgery and she requested that I accompany her. For moral support, for company, for friendship sake. I could not refuse and refusing was never in mind. Even if I am not the best nurse aid in the neighbourhood. Social Service.
Then with the cold weather and mushy-mushy road – I also went to have my vote counted for my union. This was the best I can do for the speedy bargaining and averting a strike situation. Civil Service.
Lastly, I picked up my orders for my "mini-mini" sideline. A long time ago, I took over selling beauty products from a friend who can no longer do it. I have been wanting to stop this – but people still call me for orders. It’s no big time – not even enough for my gas – but then, I feel bad if I don’t accept orders. Public Service.
Day 2
For a day that was supposed to be mine alone, I spent it from one doctor’s office to another. Taking care of loved ones. Personalized Service.
The things I do for love of mankind. Now you wonder why I work for the Community and Social Services?
that is really very kind of you emarene, specially taking time out of your busy day to be with a friend going to surgery.
ReplyDeleteI'd be terrified to have surgery, even if it's minor. Needles, blades. Yuk...I'm sure your friend really appreciated the company. Day off? I had one today :-)
ReplyDeleteKreez,
ReplyDeleteI am sure you would do the same thing.
Au,
That is what they say about people in the medical world -- afraid of needles too!
Hey emarene!
ReplyDeleteIf St. Peter would know about this. He would bestow a bright halo on your head. I know of someone who is an angel living in this world. She's my good friend across the border.
