No matter how simple and ordinary I may be -- there are certain issues that capture me. Issues I feel strongly about. This is one of them. Purchase of Asian cars by North Americans.
We drive a Dodge. Our previous van was a Chrysler. Why? Because we live in North America. This place welcomed us and provided for me and my family. Hubby and I are not in any way related to the auto industry -- but we do not want to bite the hand that feed us . We support the North American economy in our own little way.
I asked some friends who drive those Asian cars why, and some reasons are :
1) Asian cars are of better quality. Really? What does those from Ford, GM and Chrysler have to say?
2) These Asian cars are built here. Yes, they are built in North America -- but the big bucks you paid for that car goes back to those countries.
3) This is going to be my last car. Pure baloney! We are in North America -- we change cars every 5 years. Would you really want to drive that Asian car of yours when you are 60?
4) Pure Pinoy Mentality (or any other culture). Asian cars have the nice name brands that Pinoys back home dream about. Duh!
So, if you are driving an Asian car -- don't blame the government for the downhill ride of the auto industry. Remember, "when the major player sneezes, everyone around catches cold". Don't complain.

This is my 1st post to the Series "Issues I Stand For".
Good job, Ms. Randomness! We talked about this, didn't we. I just love the way you think.

Get a car that one feels comfortable driving. I have my Toyota since 2001. Follow the recommended maintenance, then less problems will be encountered. There are other ways to help the economy.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a million more friends like you.
ReplyDeleteHere's some info on the web about domestics especially Ford. Look at the links:

We're talking 2001 not 2007. I did my research then, and I'm satisfied with it. At present if Toyota or any other automaker's reliability plummets, then they have a problem. It's great if Ford has made remarkable progress in the reliability of its fleet. This should appeal to the public. Changing cars every five years? This doesn't apply to everybody. Believe me, we're all trying to help the economy in our own little way.
