Pixels for Pistols and the TTC - an Update

In my October 22 blog , I mentioned about the gun amnesty program conducted by the Toronto Police Service named Pixels for Pistols.
Two weeks after the launch, more than 350 guns have been surrendered and exchanged for cameras. Now there are 350 less guns in Toronto which had the potential of falling into the wrong hands if not surrendered.
I am beginning to understand the rationale behind this program and I applaud whoever conceptualized the idea. The target was not the hard core individual who owns a gun but rather the registered owners who has a gun too many. Statistics reveal that guns involved in crimes are usually stolen, used by non owners. The objective is really to lessen the number of guns in Toronto. Two Thumbs up.

In that same blog, I wrote about the petition to have the TTC considered an essential service. Unfortunately, the petition did not sway the Toronto Council decision makers. The move did not win a majority vote, thus during bargaining negotiation, the TTC can still strike.
Thumbs down.
