Bowling
We went bowling yesterday.
Bowling was one dating style my then friend (now hubby) employed years ago to spend some time with me. I used to beat him on this game - (probably deliberate on his part). That was when bowling scores where written manually on a score sheet. When pins were picked up and arranged manually by small frail boys.
This time, all one has to do is throw the ball and your score is recorded on the monitor, with the pins mechanically arranged. It has been a long time I played, yet it rekindled memories of Jackie Lanes, Shangrila and Midtown Lanes. Those good old days in Iligan City where bowling was a favorite recreation and a dating technique.
Any bowling memories?

Bowling is not my thing. I'd rather enjoy playing tennis. But don't get me wrong, I don't really play tennis. Just the thought of doing it. Hahaha.. Oh by the way remember when we were at the Mandaue tennis court? Walay nabuhat. Nagsige ug punit sa bola. And here goes Injing again, wanting to pose? It's like her whole purpose of being there was to pretend to play tennis but was more interested in posing, in her own way. But as far as I remember, it was fun. You know spending time with friends, no matter what you do.
ReplyDeleteau,
ReplyDeleteyou made me laugh. I can really imagine what we did and how Injing is with her poses. Model siguro siya sa previous life. So many funny memories with her came to my mind, just with your comments. I am smiling all by myself dire...
Hey, I was about to say that. Her being a model in her previous life. I just didn't put it into writing. You're right. By the way, she told me last night that the world will end by 2010. So when I ask her where in the heck did she get this? She said nga 'Tuo lang nako Day'. That's one reason why I want to arrange this 3 way call. Can't wait.
ReplyDeleteI have fond memories on bowling, too. I started doing it during my detailed job in Pasig Plant. I ended up playing for the department....and went back to Iligan with a silver medal having won the 2nd place during the tournament! I seem so good at it, too.

let me dwell first in iligan memories for a while. i find the topics homey. but i will explore all. i doubt if any of those bowling lanes you mentioned still exist now. years ago i went to play at jackie lanes. what i saw was a dilapidated place. ceilings were falling. and it was just us there. 'twas a sad sight as we've seen its glory days when it was always full and you have to queue for a chance of game. anyway i still pushed to play as i was anxious to play again my favorite game. to our dismay---the lanes were rutted. you have to place the ball in such a way that it doesn't fall to the canals unnecessarily. some of the pins were decapitated, for heaven's sake why it wasn't thrown away. the balls were not round anymore and in different sizes and peppered with holes and cracks. worst, after a game, the pinboys would rush outside for no apparent reason. we have to look for them and beg to go inside. we're done and that was my last. don't know if it's still there---the jackie lanes that was.
ReplyDeleteso when are we playing again? mag sige lang ta plano, sige pangita ug place, wa ra japon kadula, not that i can for now....but still...when i can... d ba? s
