Toronto Stories

What makes Toronto an interesting place?

Weather
It is always staple news. I woke up this morning to a chilling -1 degree centigrade feeling more like a minus 7. ( I did not get those numbers, they were provided by the weather news, of course). And yesterday, flurries were falling. Now, that's what we call a sneak preview of winter in the middle of October. At noon time, sun was up and air was warmer.

Guns
The presence of gun crimes reported in the papers daily are increasing. It is not alarming, but noteworthy. So, a novel gun amnesty program is conducted by the Toronto Police Service. Anybody who surrenders operational firearms to the Toronto Police Services will receive a Henry's gift card for a Nikon digital camera in addition to photography lessons at the Henry's photography school. Pixels for Pistols. A novel idea, but will it work? People who have guns have them for a reason. Definitely, they are not the happy- snappy type of persons. If I have a gun and I have my reasons for owning one (or several), I don't think I can be swayed by a new camera. I hope the idea works though.

The TTC
Our "sometimes" reliable transport system. A petition to make TTC an essential service thus, no longer allowed to strike during bargaining negotiations is being launched. I am definitely signing. I am among thousands of others who is dependent of the service (considering gas prices), and I enjoy my 20 minute nap every morning in the subway. I don't really mind if TTC strikes, I could always use an extra day off at home -- however, the day off is taken from my vacation days. Guess, I cannot have my cake and eat it too. Yes, I am definitely IN. Read more at http://www.cesarpalacio.com/

Then, for some good news… my favorite coffee shop is offering free coffee with a purchase of one on Fridays. Isn't just Toronto great?

  2. Toronto, they say, is a melting pot for all cultures and at the same a colorful rainbow of multiple ethnicity. Kaya when you see a kababayan you don't know whether to say hi or hello. Di na kasi novelty...

As to exchanging the guns with a digital camera... sinong matinong goons ang mag-exchange? It only shows Police ignorance or maybe dumbness. There's a selfish reason why those goons would want to own a gun - and that is to kill!

Sa malamig na weather - di na surprise. Talagang ganyan. Anyone from Toronto who still believes in the weather forecast???

  3. that's an interesting idea, camera's in exchange for guns. i'm not sure it will work but you have to give to the one who thought of the scheme.

Toronto is lovely, but weather wise - California is better.

    anonymous,
Marami talagang kababayan dito - para ka na ring nasa 'Pinas.

    Kreez,
I could never have thought of such an idea -- but really, I wish they succeed -- coz' I hate guns in the wrong hands.

    Au-au,
    Come on over, anytime!
