Because music videos are no longer as popular (for me) as back in the MTV days, I seem to have forgotten some of them. But then, some videos do stand out :
Weapon of Choice - by Fat Boy Slim featuring Christopher Walken. Christopher Walken looked so good in this video, and the dancing was superb. No wonder this won 6 awards in the 2001 MTV Awards. I seem to have forgotten that Walken was a dancer before he was an actor. His dancing in Hairspray paled in comparison to this video. See for yourself.
Praise You - by Fat Boy Slim
This is a real far out video. I keep telling myself that if the dancers in the video were real dancers it would be difficult for them to act like they don't know how to dance. It seems funny then after a while you start to think "what was Spike Jonze's thinking?". Then you recall that this video won in the 1999 MTV Music Video Awards for Breakthrough Video, Best Direction and Best Choreography. There must be something I just don't get.
Da Funk - Daft Funk.
The video focuses on the character Charles, a dog in a leg cast going his way on New York. A very simple non-story with even a little romance angle. It is easy to ignore this video however, you don't because of the dog. It's like "why I am watching this?" and then, "let's see what happens next".
Other videos which caught my attention were Sky is The Limit by the Notorious B.I.G, Buddy Holly by The Weezer, and of course the one with Sofia Coppola doing gymnastics in "Electrobank" by the Chemical Brothers.
I miss the old MTV.
