Thornbury

After a 2 day cleaning project, we needed a rest. Off to our "comfort zone" we went - Collingwood, 2 hours north of Toronto.

It was cloudy and rainy on the way to Collingwood but it did not damper our roaming spirits.

Heavenly Café in Collingwood (our usual coffee place) was closed when we arrived and it was still too early to check in, thus we decided to drive further to Thornbury (30 minutes more).

First stop - The Cheese Gallery for coffee, tea and biscotti. We missed this place the last time we were in Thornbury. Loved the cafe' decor and unforgettable was the mixed media art of a whale priced at 10K. The backbone was an old folding measuring tape. The bones were represented by spoons and the eye was made of a glass cabinet knob. It was a stunning work of art.

With the sun peeking, we walked the main street of Thornbury towards the harbor front, having ice-cream at Pom-Pom along the way.

At the lakeside we watched people taking a dip, walking or playing with their dogs and just plainly relaxing. So did we.

Second stop - Maiolo's, the restaurant beside Harbourfront Hotel. I had the Chicken Supreme which turned out to be a surprise. I was just expecting a regular grilled chicken with probably some veggie on the side. This chicken supreme was so good. It was grilled chicken with some sauce not was not sweet, salty or sour. It was like burnt something but delicious. With grilled mushroom, pepper, celery and onions.

Finally full and ready for Collingwood.
