I was not excited to watch Billy Elliott when I first saw the ads on paper. I am kind of biased towards other more popular Broadway shows. But because Mirvish Productions had a Canada Day promo, I got tickets.
And I was not disappointed. I would like to recommend the show to anybody who loves a triumph story, dancing, and a bit of comedy. No wonder it won 10 Tony Awards in 2009.
Elton John's music is never boring, the juxtapositions of scenes are so cleverly presented, and the talent of the cast - specially the younger ones are superb.
It is definitely one of the best shows I have seen.
