For the 1oth Doors Open Toronto last May 28-29, 2011 the R.C. Harris Water Filtration Plant opened its doors to the public again since 2001. I've heard so much about this building that I decided this was something I really did not want to miss.
The R. C. Harris Water Treatment Plant in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is both a crucial piece of infrastructure and an architecturally acclaimed historic building. Fashioned in the Art Deco style, the cathedral-like structure remains one of Toronto's most admired buildings.
The R.C. Harris Filtration Plant was considered by its critics in the early 1940's as too extravagant with opulent marble entryways and vast halls . It garnered the nickname "The Palace of Purification".
