It's not really doom after all. Aside from TV shows there are movies still worth watching - that is after you have watched Avatar, Sherlock Holmes, Nine, or The Chipmunks.
Up In The Air - staring at George Clooney might just be the perfect antidote to this cold January weather. This comedy-drama is getting good reviews and is a contender in most award winning bodies lately.
Invictus - if George Clooney is not your type, maybe Matt Damon will warm you up in this Clint Eastwood directed movie based on Nelson Mandela's life during the 1995 Rugby World Cup in South Africa. If it's an Eastwood, it must be good.
The Blind Side - Sandra Bullock's family drama that will surely melt your heart. According to Variety, “The Blind Side” is the first movie ever “driven solely by a top female star” to break $200 million. Over the weekend, the drama box office receipts totaled $208.5 million. Maybe that will persuade you to go out and watch this.
Precious - 2009 Toronto Filmfest's winner of the People Choice Award is currently showing in some theaters. The subject is rather sensitive and not a lot of people can relate - but if you are into socially relevant, realistic films - this one's for you.
And when all else fails, maybe watch Avatar again?
