The Wrestler

I am not a Mickey Rourke nor a wrestling fan, thus “The Wrestler” never made it to my list in the 2008 Toronto Film Festival. Even at the height of our Oscar fever in February – we missed watching it on full screen. Finally, at the prodding of D – we got to watch it via Rogers On Demand (ROD).

Both men in the house agreed it was a good movie, with the hubby saying he liked it even better than Slumdog Millionaire and Rourke deserved the Oscar nomination. The ending was the best part I like in the movie, and not because it finally ended. It was done in a way where you as the moviegoer will have to decide where you want to go. Beautiful ending shot. The musical score played on guitar in most scenes was really haunting and the closing credit song by Bruce Springsteen was noteworthy. (Wonder why it did not get an Oscar nomination?

Me? I am glad we waited to watch it via ROD instead of paying full price at the theater per person. At the ROD charge of $5.99 -- I watched $0.99 worth of the movie.

It was not a bad screenplay, story line and acting was even commendable. It's just that I’m no wrestling fan.

  2. I love the part where he had to win back the heart of his daughter only to lose her again.
    What a loser he was!

  3. Dang,
I don't know but Star Trek do not intrigue me (an to think I am a sci-fi fan!)

    Anonymous,
Yeah, a real loser. So close to the truth, eh?
