Missed Connections

Have you heard of Missed Connections?

A Missed Connection is an occurrence where two or more people are unable to exchange contact information or the information that is exchanged is lost. Through the use of publications and internet websites some people seek to reconnect with their missed connection.

The most popular Missed Connections site on the internet is Craigslist, where missed connection sections are available in over 150 different cities worldwide.

Plainly in Missed Connections, the overly shy, the hopelessly romantic, or the unattached reaches out to somebody without being ridiculed.

Here’s some sample posts from Craiglist :

Hope this works. You delivered my chicken dinner tonight at xxx Richmond Street East. I met you at my door on the xth floor....I think we shocked each other at our total interest in each other. I had a dog in my arm when I opened the door. Drop me a line.

i was biking fast and past you in front of the convocation hall; you were going northwest on king's college circle and I the opposite direction we exchanged looks, twice, in a split of second, and i just can't forget your graceful and demure look. Location: u of t

We were dancing at the Marley House and I didn't get the chance to get your number. If you weren't that interested in me, whatever. It's still kind of messed up to get a midnight snack from a guy without as much as saying good-bye when you leave. Location: Isla Vista

we passed each other going in opposite directions on State St. on Friday. You looked me in the eye and gave me a wonderful coy smile as we passed. Me: 6', blu/brwn, dark tshirt under untucked open long sleeve shirt, glasses, shorts. You: Form-fitting shirt, lovely smile. Location: State St.

Reading missed connections is getting to be a weird entertainment for me during my morning commute. I just can't help but read and wonder if they ever get connected.

What do you think?
