With D's cellphone contract ending and the task of finding a "better" deal looms - the question entered my mind. I tried to do a little math.
- 2 cellphones at $28 a month = $56 (only for hubby and D, I use the public phone if absolutely necessary)
- Landline phone = $35
- Internet = $45
That is $136/month or $1656 a year just to keep us in contact with each other, family and friends.
There was no cellphone before, no Internet, and even landlines were only for the selected few. Yet, our parents survived. We survived university, job hunting, pregnancies and childbirth. We connected with family and friends through snail mail, the telegram, and long distance calls.
What is your family's cost of being connected?
Times have changed. And it's exciting to have all these technology available to us. You can communicate with love ones, friends anywhere, anytime. With the internet, you don't have to pay for long distance, makakita pa ka nila with the webcam. It's fun. Cell phones are important in case of emergency. Cost? $200+/month. Too much, I know. That's why it's a must to shop for the best deals.
ReplyDeleteAu,
ReplyDeleteIt seems not much if we think monthly, pero it adds to a big amount in a year. Nothing much we can do -- "collateral damage" in these changing times.
