I just discovered the blogging world.
Yes, I've heard about blogs, read a few and even followed one or two but I never fancied to have my own. For me, it is a waste of time and I am not a good writer, anyway.
Then one day, it hit me. Maybe, I should try blogging.
But why blog?
1) To have an audience of myself. Since I talk to myself most of the time (no, I'm no psycho case) I can write my thoughts in blogosphere and I can read them anytime. It would be fun to recall how I feel and what I thought of on some days.
2) To keep a permanent journal of my everyday events. I've never been a diary keeper. Diaries don't work for me. I write, erase and re-write so many stuff in my "diaries", they become more like a laundry list.
3) To brush up on my writing and English skills. Since I came to Toronto, my writing has been limited to formal office memos, e-mails and texts. I missed writing with feelings. In the middle of conversations I have to think hard and long for simple words. I was regressing in the English language, and yet I proudly tell my colleagues "where I come from English was our medium of instruction".
4) To keep me active, observant, excited. When life used to just pass me by -- now I catch myself saying " I will blog about this". Almost everything that happens becomes a bit more special, because they may be blog material later.
And here's the bonus. Blogging uses the keyboard to write. What a lifesaver! Writing is now so much faster and easier.
I do not see my blog as having followers. I may be the only one reading them (plus the hubby and maybe a friend or two) -- but the idea that someone else may read them -- thrills me.
Yes, I am hooked. I will continue to blog and tell the whole blogosphere what I did, how I feel, what I am thinking of.
How about you, why do you blog?
