On our last night at Pinery Provincial Park - my left hand was a bit slower than my right hand. This resulted in my left thumb being caught in the car door. SLAM! Arrrgghhh. . . and words not worthy to be mentioned in any blog followed.
Anyway, I did my own home medication but after a few days, there seemed no improvement. Thumb was swollen. I wanted to see my family doctor but she is not available. After hours clinic were not answering. I finally called Tele Health Ontario after officemates told me scary stories of losing fingers due to late response. There was an eternity of questions - and after almost 20 minutes of phone consultation, Tele Health Ontario staff advised me to go to nearest Emergency center which was Mt Sinai. Oh well.
I arrived at Mt. Sinai 4:12 PM. Triage : interview, sign papers, wait and wait. At 5:20 pm, I was asked to move to another waiting area. I was almost halfway with the book I was reading. At 6:20 I was finally seen by a doctor. An x-ray is needed.
X-ray at 6:35 pm. At 7:15 pm I walked around and asked if I can go. Oh, the doctor remembered me! No cracked bones, no infection - he said. No prescribed medicine. NADA. No cleaning was even done. After spending 3 hours there, I left Mt. Sinai at 7:20!
Ontario's health care - the best in the world! Really?!?!
