We Have Landed.
Pinery Provincial Park is around 3 hours away from Toronto. We decided to go Southwest this time after going North for the last 2 fall seasons. Fall in the southwest region of Ontario is quite different in terms of colors. We were still kind of early for the full fall colors but the scenery were still breathtaking.
We stayed in Yurt #476 (Riverside Campground, Area 1). Compared to the MacGregor yurt, this one seemed a bit smaller and older. This yurt did not have a deck unlike the few others around it. The Pinery have 10 yurts for rent and some are available in winter. We had sunny and warm weather that during the day time we had to open the windows to let some air get in. The barbecue outside was working fine that the moment we arrived we started cooking and had dinner right away.
It was getting late after dinner that we headed to the Day Use beach hoping to catch a good sunset. From our campsite, the beach was a 10 minute drive on a one-way road. We did a short detour checking the visitor's centre and the park store - which were closed as it was still Thursday.
Standing on the lakeside, this was the view of the sand dune beach of Pinery PP. The beach is 10 kilometers.
We were late when we arrived at Area 1 of the beach as the sun was already down. But not too late to catch a snapshot of the sunset.
It was gorgeous and there were only very few people enjoying it. I can still hear the voice of the young man (I can't remember his song though) which echoed on the beach after he took some photos. He had a dog, a camera and a guitar with him. He must have known the sunsets in Pinery are worth waiting for.
This is part 1 of my series on Pinery Provincial Park.
