Frozen

This blog was on hiatus while I camped on the first weekend of September. Then - before I can even write about my latest camping adventure the Toronto International Film Festival came. September is always a busy month for me and the whole family - the next thing I see will be the beautiful colors of fall.

Anyway, here's what I've seen so far in the 2011 TIFF. (Photos and notes from TIFF's official website)

Last Call of the Oasis. This shocking investigation into the world's water crisis, draws upon the work of scientists and activists including the real Erin Brockovich, from Academy Award-winning director Jessica Yu and the producer's of "Food, Inc."
Fable of the Fish (Isda). Breathtaking in the assured way it weaves naturalist and magic realist elements, this tragicomic modern fable examines belief, specifically the curious conflation of folk tales, urban myths and Christianity unique to the Philippines.
Oslo, August 31. Anders wanders the city, meeting people he hasn't seen in a while. Long into the night, the ghosts of past mistakes will wrestle with the chance of love, of a new life, with the hope to see some future by morning.
Urbanized. This stylish and inspiring documentary from the director behind Helvetica and Objectified examines ideas about cities and urban design with examples from around the world and interviews with architects, politicians, artists and city planners.
