Once in a while, I get to experience something I do not plan.
Focus Group. My name is included in a list for focus groups. Once in a long while, the agency calls me to join a discussion for an upcoming product, an advertisement or anything else where they need a variety of opinions. My latest call was for an upcoming advertisement for an Ontario Casino. Several test ads were shown (in boards) with several questions asked to each of us ranging from how we feel, what is our reaction, is it believable, and a lot more. For 2.5 hours, we get to discuss which of the sample ads we think will sell.
It is really a neat and well paid experience. I wish they will call me again.
TV audience. I did not imagine myself to become a live TV audience. I thought that was a waste of time - until Battle of the Blades. That very show where hockey players meet Olympic skaters in the name of Charity. I do not even know a thing about those two sports but something about this made me want to see a live show so much. Thus, my friend J and I bought tickets, got into a bus and was inside the studio.
Inside the studio and a few minutes before the show, a production assistant told us (the audience) that if she raises her hand - we should clap and shout as loud as we can. There were a few other instructions and then we were moved to another area as there were not a lot of studio audience. The camera will focus only on the filled area to make it look like a full house.
Later - the judges arrived. Make up retouch. Emcee arrived. A little perk up opening spiel. Then the show.2 wonderful experiences I will still do if given the chance.
