Anchor Bar in downtown Buffalo. Birthplace of the favorite and famous "buffalo chicken wings".Yes, 47 years ago - nobody ate deep fried chicken wings. Chicken wings were for soup and other dishes then. Now it is the favorite snack in sports bar and restaurants. And this is where it all started.
The place is cozy with an area for families and those who want to watch the sports channel (as this is a bar too). We ordered the 10 pieces mild and the chicken wing style sandwich. All served with celery and bleu cheese same as it was served by Teresa (owner's mother) in 1964.
